Penbanc Pasture is a small Pembrokeshire farm in The Pembrokeshire National Park. Run by Kate, farming since 2018, she has a small herd of Traditional Hereford cattle and a flock of Shetland sheep. Both are native breed animals who thrive when left to their own devices, raised on permanent pasture, 5 miles from the coast. Both herds are closed because I want to rear my own stock minimising any diseases being introduced. I lamb and calf outside, outwinter and try to provide the best environment I can for the animals to do what they naturally do.
I sell beef, hogget and mutton boxes directly to our customers usually in late summer and early autumn, reserve yours here. Hogget is a lamb over a year old and because Shetland sheep grow very slowly, hogget and mutton is the best way to enjoy their lean and delicately flavoured joints.
Our Herefords are horned, descended from the original population of Traditional Herefords and our beef, hogget and mutton are very much connected to the food and farming heritage of the UK, and the evolving landscape of our Welsh farm.
If you'd like to reserve a box of pastured beef, hogget or mutton, or you'd just like a joint or a steak - I always have some - contact us via social channels, the website or my details here. I can ship or arrange for you to collect.
I only started farming in 2017, an always-dreamed-of adventure to produce good food from healthy soil and happy animals. But despite being new to farming, my farming practice is as old as agriculture itself, no artificial inputs and minimum intervention.
I love telling our story, our blog tells it all!
And you can come to stay on the farm and meet all the animals and see how I farm. I'm proud to do what I do and enjoy showing people around. They enjoy it too!
