I was brought up on a dairy farm in West Yorkshire, where from an early age I would help bottle and deliver the milk. I got an OND from the Lancashire College of Agriculture and after leaving college I went into dairy processing, sales and marketing, which I have now done for over 40 years.
In 2016 I bought the South Ormsby Estate in the Lincolnshire Wolds, which has a native herd of Lincoln Red Cattle, Gin Distillery, Guest House, Tea Room.
I firmly believe that arable land should be for growing foods for human consumption not for feeding animals.
I am keen that the PLFA should be more involved in benchmarking so members can compare against each other and help drive best practice. I also believe that the PLFA should be working with Parliament more to get the laws and regulations written that will help the PFLA thrive.
