For the past 30 years, Fidelity has managed her family’s 70ha farm outside Sevenoaks in Kent on pasture-fed principles. The farm has been Soil Association registered since 2000 and beef, lamb, pork and poultry are directly from the farm. The farm is in Higher Level Stewardship with an emphasis on wildflower meadows and a small area of spring-planted cereals. There is an ongoing programme of educational visits and Open Days.
Fidelity started her career as a parliamentary lobbyist, working mainly on disability issues, and she has a good understanding of the parliamentary process and the need to build consensus to achieve long- term change.
She has been a trustee of a number of organisations including Sevenoaks School, CPRE (Kent) and Kent Wildlife Trust (KWT) for 17 years, having stepped down in 2014 as KWT Chairman after seven years. During this time she was actively involved in The Wildlife Trusts nationally, sitting on their Strategic Development and Research Committee and on a Governance Task and Finish group.
Locally Fidelity continues to be involved in the Trust having helped develop a bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund for a £1million project on the local commons. This led to a community-led Living Landscape project in the area, which aims to raise awareness of how people can help improve habitat for local wildlife.
Her particular contribution as a Board member of the Pasture-Fed Livestock Association will be to contribute to the development of initiatives around the grazing of bio-diverse habitats, and to look at ways in which Pasture Meat can be made available to everyone.Contact Fidelity
